WHAT IS GLYCEMIC INDEX(GI)?
Basic Concept of GI
Glycemic Index (GI) is an indicator to rank the carbohydrates in food and beverage from 0-100 regarding their degree of influences have on blood sugar level. It is also classified into three categories:

Low (GI<55), Medium(GI 56 to 69) and High (GI>70)

Carbohydrates with different forms of sugar content can have different impact on the blood glucose level. Intake of simpler form of carbohydrates may result in a faster absorption rate of glucose in our body, thus leading to a dramatic rise in blood glucose level. The effects of carbohydrates on blood glucose level can be tested 30 mins after meal.
