Types of Carbohydrates and Their GIs

Traditionally, carbohydrates are classified into 3 types:

Currently, carbs are divided into 3 groups with reference to the main components of food (which affects GI of the food):

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For good health, adults need to consume 25 to 30 grams of fiber each day. In general, the examples provided above contain 2.5 to 4.9 grams per serving.
